Drank The Sea, Now Save Haiti

Fresh out today is volume one of The Glitch Mob’s Drink The Sea Remixes. This batch features a slew of talent, including Eprom, Eskmo, Salva, Kastle, R/D, and Mindelixir, with volume two parading such names as SPL, Virtual Boy, Beats Antique, Nalepa, Machinedrum, and a hoard of others; Over 24 tracks in all! The best part is that 100% of the proceeds go to help rebuild Haiti, through the DownloadToDonate program! You donate $10, and get access to not only Volume 1 of Drink the Sea Remixes, but also Volume 2 when it drops February 12th, as well as all of the other music available on the DownLoadToDonate website, all for $10! And there are some big names on there, such as Skrillex and Linkin Park, and new tracks are uploaded each month. You can see all the details here.

And for your free downloading pleasure, we have Sub Swara’s super catchy remix of Starve The Ego, Feed The Soul. The driving percussion and clever swing have become part of Sub Swara’s signature, yet they still manage to step it up a notch with their newer stylings of intricate synthesis and laser bass melody. Definitely a keeper, and a great taste of what you’ll get when you donate for all of the downloads.

The Glitch Mob – Starve The Ego, Feed The Soul (Sub Swara Remix)

I have mad respect for The Glitch Mob and all of the remixers involved in this project. Just because Haiti isn’t the “hot fundraiser” anymore doesn’t mean that they still don’t need every bit of help they can get. So if you’re able, I urge you to please donate.. not only for the music, but for the people whos’ lives you are supporting.

Triggers

Everyday, triggers are constantly going off all around us. Events that lead to other happenings, a trigger is a force set into motion. In music, a spark of inspiration and innovation can trigger an avalanche of satisfying sound that has long lasting ripples as it seeps into the creative collective. And Sub Swara’s newest full length album release, aptly entitled Triggers, does just that. A mass of future-bass music, Triggers is adorned with sweet synth-lines to fill even the most insatiable ears.

Sub Swara, the widely recognized bass collective now containing members Dhruva Ganesan and Dave Sharma, are no strangers to genre-bending music. Their New York monthly club party, called by the same name, hosted the likes of Mary Ann Hobbs, The Glitch Mob, The Bug, and Bassnectar in it’s three year stretch. However, as their popularity grew, so did the need to focus more on production and touring, as the monthly ended in 2008. Since then, Sub Swara has received critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, to XLR8R, to BBC Radio 1 and FADER for their work, including their previous full length album released in June of 2008 called Coup d’Yah.

Now Sub Swara busts back onto the scene with blinding colors. Always moving forward, Triggers features collaborations with Dead Prez, Lyrics Born, Kendra Foster of Parliament Funkadelic, and the up and coming hip hop act, Freddie Mills. As you journey through Triggers, you are sure to encounter something that will meet your fancy, whether you be a crazed dancefloor maniac, or a weathered audiophile.

Pre-release sales for Triggers went live yesterday, with the universal release date being this coming Monday, November 9th. Make sure to grab both their recent mixtape, as well as the second free single released on your way over to buy the pre-release from SubSwara.com, which is the only place you can snag it until next week.

Bend You

A month before the new album release, Sub Swara’s Triggers, due to drop Nov 9th, is already creating a big buzz in the scene. This is the second LP from the New York group, and seems to promise to show us a new side of Sub Swara, filled with more deep space soundscapes balanced perfectly atop bassbin crushing synthlines and polytempo rhythm sure to satisfy any beatfreak.

And the first pre-release single, aptly titled “Bend You”, does just that. Around the time you are starting to think you have a feel for this track, it shows you that the roller-coaster ride isn’t quite over yet! So snag it up below and keep your eyes peeled for the new album as it hits stores in mid November, and make sure to catch these guys in a city near you this fall (you can scope their tour dates on their website).

So, let it be known that BwompBeats will return to it’s former reign of bwompiness! If you’ve got some tracks you want blogged up, send ‘em over! Personally, I’m all about interesting music.. dubstep, glitch-hop.. you get the picture! I like things that push the limits, that explore new territory, that don’t just adhere to the same freaking two-step mold we’ve all locked ourselves into. So get to cracking!
