From the first dubbed out echoes of Oregon based Free Crush’s Rollin Deep EP [MALLABEL MUSIC], you’re immediately drawn into a pacific northwest mosaic of grittiness. With superb and sonically balanced synths terrorizing over crunchy bass lines (and don’t forget a few heaping tablespoons of booming-punchy-banging drums), you can’t go wrong and are forced to listen, beginning to end.

Right off the bat, the opening track, Hands Up whisks you through VIP to that happy place of rolled out bass infused womp. Tweaking out vocals from Mal Irie, we ride along to a swung out & Drum and Bass tune, but as the track winds down and gives you a neck snapping grimey mid tempo flow, you’re tempted to press that rewind button. You might find yourself doing that a few times through the first listen of the EP, but hold tight. It all flows effortlessly and by the next few bars you will be entranced again. Hands Up is only a sign of the goodness coming from the Rollin Deep EP.

With standout productions like Rollin With My Crew (ft. Mal Irie & MC Ro Knew) and Reset The Atari, Rollin Deep is fully stacked and gives you WAY more than most other four or five track EPs. We’ve all had less than stellar albums with an underwhelming amount of tracks. But wait, MalLabel Music even packaged some dirty and duty free remixes. Mochipet stomps through his take on Sailing By, adding some energy and making sure everyone in the club will be well aware when this one is dropped. Taso and The Frim also drop bubbling remixes, with each laying perfectly in the cut.

The entire EP teeters on frenetic, but always holds tight. You might start somewhere familiar, but you are going to journey through tempos and arrangements that will surprise you. You might get so close to the brink of panic or maybe it’s implosion, but no matter what, that necessary head nod always prevails in the end in bass-ed out goodness. Gouseion from Portland, OR just released a remix EP on Run Riot Records for his track “Let’s Crush…” ILLEST EP IN A MINUTE! (Didn’t they used to call these singles?)

Whatever RRR has been cooking, they’re coming CORRECT! Remix alchemists include the previously posted Graintable, Samples, and Freddy Todd, all bwomp-notch producers.
