Everyone’s New Favorite Song

Joe Jonas lookin all sultry

This is legitimately the best track I’ve heard in quite some time. I have no idea who Invader! is, but he is absolutely KILLING it from down in Boca Raton. I was cruising through soundcloud - his soundcloud, to be precise – and something caught my eye: he remixed a Joe Jonas song! Are you kidding me? Obviously I clicked on the link and in the five minutes that ensued I had a dance party in my room. My friends who were already in it were soon joined by random kids from my hall who were all dancing wildly and asking the same question: what is this song? It’s awesome! Shamelessly savage, yet ideally fun, you just don’t get dubstep better than this. I am sure that, as has happened with me, this song will soon be your anthem – that song you turn to at that perfect moment. After you listen to this song and realize you want more, please turn to Invader!’s soundcloud. This is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Halloween Darkness. More Figure

It’s Halloween time again. It always gets me excited for those deep, dark bangers that are celebrated come fall and bass extraordinaire, Figure has been unleashing the darkness. He’s released a few bombs recently (including his Wonderwall remix we posted a few weeks back). His EP, Monsters of Dubstep is out now on Beatport and by no means is a sparse exception to his aggressive style.

Here we have a couple little nuggets for you, Michael Myers Is Dead & Beetlejuice. And by couple little nuggets, I mean two really big cuts from Figure that might just turn a dance floor into raving zombies.

The Number 23

MJ - Da Best

So the other day, I was making some Ramen. Then I realized that 23 is awesome. The Number 23 has attached itself to some of the very greatest people that have ever walked this earth: MJ, Jim Carrey, and now a mighty man – a dubstepper named 23. After having his Chromeo Remix on repeat for the past 3 weeks (literally), I decided to get in touch with the guy for a quick, rapidfire Q&A sesh and some Madlib shananagans. Please support 23 on Beatport – his debut EP is up there as well as his Arkasia remix – pay him money for the service he is doing your ears (which you should). Make sure to check out his soundcloud, where he sporadically releases some really sick sounds.

Rapidfire Q&A Sesh

Dastardly: What’s the best part about being an electronic music maker?

23: Getting to play my music out and see people reacting and dancing to it.

Dastardly: Why do you do it? What keeps you going?

23: Music is just something I keep coming back to. It’s rewarding to make and often challenging or even puzzling. I’ve been a long time puzzle solver.

Dastardly: What can we expect out of 23 in the future?

23: Exploration, experimentation.  Live instrumentation. Misinterpretation.

Dastardly: What are your top couple songs on iTunes? What are you listening to lately?

23: Been listening to a lot of Porcupine Tree lately.  Also been on a kick for Streetlight Manifesto and NOFX.   This stuff changes weekly though.

And the 23 madlib…

(23) was (calculating) one fine saturday evening until he stopped to get some (infinity) at the local (Frank Zappa’s bathroom). As (23) went inside, they noticed that the (goat) was looking kind of (smarmy). Confused, he looked (toothlessly) around until he saw a sign that read “No (5 tons of flax), No Service”. Feeling (embarrassment) he left the (Frank Zappa’s bathroom) and (f***ed) off into the night.

PANTyRAiD is SUPERIOR

I’d like to first introduce myself, my name is Jesse Brede and by day, I’m a web nerd that programs for Blastro, Roxwel, and Yallwire, and by night, I’m a DJ, producer and promoter out of Austin, Texas.  My passion is, very simply, music.  Enough with the formalities, let’s get on to the goodness.

PANTyRAiD - SUPERIOR

My introduction to PANTyRAiD came through Marine Parade label boss, Mr. Adam Freeland.  About 3 years ago, Adam mentioned that he had just signed this new act and was going to put out an album from some new producers that he had met in the LA beat scene.  Fast forward 3 years….and you would be hard pressed to find a bass music enthusiast who doesn’t know “Beba” or “Get the Money”.  Heck, MartyParty has almost single handedly coined the genre, PURPLE.  That being said, their album, “The Sauce”, was a bit on the softer side of bass music.  Don’t get me wrong, in the day of destructive Brostep that leaves absolutely no frequency untouched, I’m a big fan of the negative space in their tracks; however, when you are playing headlining slots and your openers forgot to read the rules, you need to have a few more weapons at your disposal.  Enter their brand new, hot off the presses, “Superior” EP. And if you’re in SoCal, don’t miss PantyRaid at the Lightning in a Bottle Festival!

A bit more dubstep, drumstep and whomp that what most were expecting, but properly PURPLE and well worth your hard earned cash.

Here are a few freebies for you to take home.
