Watermelon Tourmaline
Yeeeah. So, I’ve decided to start a new segment in Bwompland called “Hidden Gems”. It brings together two things I have a passion for.. sick stones and sick tunes! Tunes from artists that aren’t necessarily on everyone’s tongues yet, but will be soon! It’s always nice to dig and dig for hours for new music, and finally find something worth taking home.. that gem amongst the dirt! So, for our first installment, we have none other than Jantsen:

If you’ve been in the dubstep and glitch-hop scene for long, you’ve probably at least heard this man’s name. Hailing from the bass infested state of Colorado, he’s been a vital part of the left coast community for a number of years, raging out festivals and shows up and down the country. Bringin’ the heat since before Glitch-Hop even had it’s name, Jantsen’s tracks are both wobbly and wonkey, ranging from what might be called glitchstep to intelectro to full on whomptronica. With his remix of Ready2Rage with Bassnectar, he busted out into the view of many new faces earlier this year, including myself. Definitely one to keep an eye on for the future, this guy is! I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us in 2010.
Jantsen was nice enough to put out some tracks for free download, so allow me to pass those along to you guys!

Here’s an old mix from Jantsen, circa ’07 I believe. Still raging, though, and it shows just how long this dude has been doing the damn thing as far as Glitch-Hop goes before it was called so!
Jantsen – Gutter Music Mix (Tracklist can be found here)
We got the email back up and running, so send that Bwomp-i-ness on over! It’s possible that we’ve lost some emails, though, and do have a pile to go through, so resend ‘em if you haven’t gotten a response from us. Who do you think should be our next featured Hidden Gem?
