The new Canadian glitch-hop label ‘Woofer Cookers‘, companion site to The Glitch Hop Forum, is a non-profit label run by artists, for artists. Showcasing some fresh heat from some volcanoes (too soon?) in the scene, Woofer Cookers sports an awesome figure: 100% of the proceeds from track sales go directly to the artist! These guys aren’t just innovating the record label world, though. The artists on Woofer Cookers are dedicated to not only getting your booty shakin’, but to keepin’ your brain tantalized with powerful melodies and scrumptious edits and glitches. Don’t believe me? Their latest release, entitled ‘The Harvest EP‘, is four tracks sure to send you for a spin. Glitch-hop legends Dewey dB and Ill-Esha join Bevvy Swift and El Mongoose (who are two halves of the supergroup Glitchy and Scratchy) to pepper this EP with psychedelic frequencies and salt it with morphing funkiness. Ranging from purple melodies to stabbing arpeggiators, this vegetable-themed release is sure to have a little something for everyone. I think my favorite would have to be ‘Savage Cabbage’, if only because Dewey dB breaks it down in true hyphy fashion, with this stomper that’s sure to make any dancefloor bounce.
