This simple but amazing remix of House of the Rising Sun by The Animals was made by a person I simply know as PURETUNE. We would love to work with this cat. The instruments used are listed on his Vimeo as follows:

“a. HP Scanjet 3P, Adaptec SCSI card and a computer powered by Ubuntu v9.10 OS as the Vocals. (hey, the scanner is old)
b. Atari 800XL with an EiCO Oscilloscope as the Organ
c. Texas instrument Ti-99/4A with a Tektronix Oscilloscope as the Guitar
d. Hard-drive powered by a PiC16F84A microcontroller as the bass drum and cymbal”

No sampling or audio effects were used to produce this.

Bwomp Beats recently caught up with MiM0SA at his Austin,Tx gig with Vibesquad for a quick and dirty interview.

We asked him about his intro to music? How his crowds are reacting to his new heavy 808 infused album, “Sanctuary”? And if he uses a template when starting a song?

On top of sitting down with one of bass music’s youngest and hottest names, what struck us was just how fast this has all happened. Bass music and electronic music in general has simply exploded in the last few years. America has fully embraced the music. Yes, there is dubstep in commercials. Yes, Skrillex was nominated for 5 Grammys and did a song with The Doors. But underneath that all, real careers and are being made. More and more artists are playing more and more shows and the production of festivals and shows are reaching never before seen heights with record attendances happening across the country. DJ Shiftee Drops Turntable Routine for Joker’s “Slaughter House”

Two-time DMC World Champ DJ Shiftee is one talented motherfucker. Apart from having a slew of DJ awards under his belt and being a globetrotting producer and purveyor of bass music, he’s also a Harvard Math Graduate, and an instructor at NYU as well as Dubspot NYC. Thankfully, he’s taken some time out of his busy schedule to whip up a turntable routine using Joker’s “Slaughter House”. Combining Native Instruments‘ Traktor and Maschine, Shiftee takes a page from MPC era beat smithing and fuses it with some tasteful turntablism. Not to mention, he’s sure to keep you laughing throughout the entire video.

If you get a chance to see DJ Shiftee live, make sure to hop on it – he’s very fun to watch as a master of keeping you dancing and interested throughout his entire set.

Each instrument and layer is represented by individual (or duplicate) performers in perfect sync with the track, so you’ll want to watch this in full screen HD to get the full effect.

Some of you may remember a Nissan commercial from 2003 where Ming and FS are recording different sounds from a Nissan Altima and at the end of the commercial you see them in the studio compile everything into a dope little beat. Urban Dictionary (C’mon, The only REAL dictionary in 2011) describes a slow burner as, “Someone who it takes some time to realize the amazing-ness of. Someone that you become truly passionate for. Also, anything with this quality.”

Engine-Earz Experiment is one of those somewhat off the radar dubstep groups. A slow burner. They aren’t the Nero’s or Skrillex’s of the world who go straight for the throat (by no means am I slighting either!). They’re classy and stylish. They are that sexy girl who knows how to attract a guy, not with the cleavage of fake tits, but with a lower dress line and demure smile.

Here we have not one, but TWO brand-spanking-new remixes from Nitin Sawhney’s new record Last Days of Meaning, both containing that signature sound of heavy bass, bouncy drums and melodic synths. Make sure to hit up the Engine-Earz soundcloud, they have more than a few treats for your ears.
