Fish Wobble Wednesday: UZZI

UZZI, the duo that truly believes blood is thicker than water. Why? Because they’re brothers (literally). George (22) and Anthony (17) Panagiotidis grew up and reside in Thessaloniki, Greece. They started producing as UZZI in 2011, influenced after a dubstep event in 2009 and have been hooked since then. A few of their dubstep heroes include Kromestar, Coki, D-Jahsta, and Unnatural Forces. George and Anthony have a release on Dubstar records and future releases with Subway, Mechanoid Audio, Nauseous Vibez, and Drop Dem. It doesn’t end there. They also have collaborations with Unnatural ForcesDuckem, Seraph, Aftee, and Camelorg. With productions sounding like they were engineered, mastered, and composed by aliens from the 10th dimension, it’s no wonder these guys are out in full force.

Be sure to download the free stuff, their latest release, and make sure to check out the newest productions. Their creations cover the mellow all the way to the manic! Enjoy.

#TrapTues 16

As the genre is figuring itself out, it’s nice to see trap artists embracing new sounds and shaking up the playing field. Here are some selections for the week, with highlights being on Kennedy Jones‘ remix of a popular Bingo Players track, as well as a dubstep-inspired Money Gettin by relative new guy Enoptrix (who we will be keeping an ear out for from now on). Don’t get it twisted though; all these tracks are fire.

#TrapTues 15: Bro Safari & Kill The Noise Were…

A little fun fact: two thriving names in bass music right now, KILL THE NOISE and BRO SAFARI, back in the day called themselves Ludachrist (which I was a huge fan of). This phenomenon sadly didn’t last forever, and we were never able to book a show with them before they stopped. During their stint, however, they showed up to many a show dressed in pastor robes throwing down the crunkiest of mashups with Spongebob Squarepants and Barney the Dinosaur for go-go dancers.

While they have gone separate ways and styles, it’s good to see that neither have lost the spirit of the party and taken themselves too seriously. Bro Safari has just been on fire this year and Kill the Noise has met obvious success (check out his last video directed by Mike Diva). Keep doin it boys! Long live and praise the mighty Ludachrist!

Fish Wobble Wednesday: THE ARGONAUTS

The Argonauts, a trio coming out of Horsham in South East UK is a team that combines forces to create a fierce combination of sub bass, beats, and fish wobbles. Jay, Richard, and Matt got their name from Jason and The Argonauts, a film released in 1963. They started producing at different times but have a combined 10 years of experience. A huge push to start producing came from seeing artist play their own music live, watching interviews, and the buzz received from hearing original tunes. They’re sound is surrounded with a shrew of unrelenting beats, other worldly bass wobbles, and mechanical synths pushing their way through different dimensions. They have an EP forthcoming on Dubstar, a split EP with Kalimist coming on Illicit Trade, a track featured on a compilation coming from Nauseous Vibez, and collaborations with Uzzi and Bloodthinnerz. They’re not slowing down, quite the opposite they’re gaining momentum, so get in the know early before it’s too late.

Pay attention, listen carefully, and don’t forget to breath, today we have a couple of freebies for ya, and some new work by the deadly trinity.

Breakfast Club Shows Us The Real Harlem Shake

Recently, a YouTube video went around about what Harlem residents thought about the surge of Harlem Shake viral videos going around lately. Predictably, the video was filled Harlem folks ranting and being disgusted at how these people are not even doing the Harlem Shake, and that the videos are in general insulting to Harlem. What I didn’t expect was, when asked to show us how the real Harlem Shake is meant to be done, only one of the interviewees seemed to have a remote idea of how to Harlem Shake properly. The Breakfast Club from NYC’s Power 105.1 FM, gives us a bit more of an educational video.

Willy Joy Remixes ASAP Rocky’s Fuckin Problem

WILLY JOY just released his 100 BPM rework of the A$AP Rocky panty dropper, “Fuckin Problem.” This Chicago DJ and producer has been climbing the ranks quickly and getting love from the likes of Diplo, Crookers, Dillon Francis, and BBC Radio 1. Dancefloor sweat is his specialty, yet having had his hands dipped in other genres like House, Moombah, and Juke, there is no cookie-cutter fashion about Willy’s game. Named one of the Next 100 artists to watch by URB Magazine, peep the cracking drums and giant synths in this remix and tell me you don’t agree.
