Willy Joy Remixes ASAP Rocky’s Fuckin Problem

WILLY JOY just released his 100 BPM rework of the A$AP Rocky panty dropper, “Fuckin Problem.” This Chicago DJ and producer has been climbing the ranks quickly and getting love from the likes of Diplo, Crookers, Dillon Francis, and BBC Radio 1. Dancefloor sweat is his specialty, yet having had his hands dipped in other genres like House, Moombah, and Juke, there is no cookie-cutter fashion about Willy’s game. Named one of the Next 100 artists to watch by URB Magazine, peep the cracking drums and giant synths in this remix and tell me you don’t agree.

Here’s a unique two-part mix bundle that our own Demon0ne created for the dubstep and drum & bass heads out there entitled Demonstep Vol 2. If you have a taste for aggressive and heavy beats, this package, made to be burned in two parts onto one disc, is undoubtedly for you. The first features Demon0ne’s favorite styles of dubstep (deep, grime, Carnival, UK, and brostep just to name a few, tracklist here) while part two is some straight up hard and dank D&B biz (tracklist here). Try not to break anything (on second thought, go ahead and break everything):

Vibesquad has always been a Bwomp Beats favorite known for his sadistic glitch hop productions. Here’s an eclectic freestyle mix of his originals, home-made remixes, edits, mashups, loops, and layers, encompassing everything from classic hip hop, soul, and funk: (tracklist here)

Green Lantern, of Shady Records fame, has never disappointed folks and does not with this one either. It’s always exciting to hear solid hip hop DJs spinning EDM beats. Trap is the name of this game, and in true Green Lantern fashion, we’re treated with a hip-hop infused back and forth journey littered with his own flourishes and edits that will keep you on your toes: (tracklist here)

By now you’ve probably heard about the controversy surrounding DJ Shadow‘s set at the South Beach club Mansion which was cut-short for not being douche-bag-friendly enough for the rich kids there. Here’s that set:

From hardcore rap to footwork and juke and beyond, Shadow has combed the web to curate seamless and dexterous blends of the most progressive sounds bubbling up from the underground. ‘Too hard?’ ‘Too future?’ Or just too raw?  -DJShadow.com

Eye Spy: Krampfhaft

Getting back into the swang of the blog game here and it feels good I tells ya.  I’ve been resistant to the fickle banter of pseudo-intellectuals on the topic of bass music nomenclature as of late, thus so fitting is my experience with the Krampfhaft sound. Originally from the Netherlands, the Haft has been getting some steady rotation in my headphones.  So here we go with some gems. A bit of a brainy feel, a bit insanely real with a grainy peel.

Stephan Jacobs and Freddy Todd Wear Capes

I was stoked to hear that two of my favorite dudes in the bass game, Freddy Todd and Stephan Jacobs, were collaborating to produce an EP. Presenting: “We Wear Capes.” A little off the beaten path for both of these guys, but expect nothing less. I won’t even bother talking genre… just look for some gnarly synth and drum work and an appearance by “Sexy Saxman” Sergio Flores.

Adventure Club Needs Your Heart

Adventure Club just released a new track for free download. “Need Your Heart” features AC’s signature melodic “epic-step” style with (presumably) hot chick Kai singing over grandiose drops and aggressive synths. The kids can’t get enough of these Canadians. Plus all of their soundcloud tracks are available for free download. The download link takes you to their Facebook where the links might be a little wonky, but hey… FREE TRACKS!

Delta Heavy Gets Massive

DELTA HEAVY is killing it out of London, England. Crossing over from their primary domain of DnB, this awesome duo has been producing some killer dubstep/electro remixes of late.

Last month’s epic remix of Nero‘s Must Be The Feeling got a lot of love and immediately became cemented as one of my favorite edm songs of the year when Adventure Club dropped it at their show at Higher Ground late last month.

Delta Heavy’s dubsteppy streak continues with their latest remix of Fixer’s Iron Deer Dream. As I gave it an initial listen, the aesthetics surprised me; the blaring, whining synths lines are still there but are much more subdued and fluid than in their Nero remix. The energy moves well in this song, and the essence of the lyrics are reflected well by the adventurous synths and murky bass. All in all, a great Spring track as outdoor activities begin to be accessible again and as the windows in our cars begin to slowly find themselves lower and lower.
