Two men of flexible style, Austin, TX based RUN DMT don’t let genre boundaries restrict their creations. Both Parson and Lemiwinks, the brains behind RUN DMT, bring their veteran producer talents to a new arena, and are being extremely well received throughout the scene. With their tunes being rinsed by folks such as Bassnectar, 12th Planet, and Kill the Noise, and their newest release landing in the top 10 for dubstep on Beatport, these guys are on a fast track to playing worldwide before you know it. Nico Luminous takes a soulful approach to creating electronic music while fusing melodic progressions, futuristic sound design and organic elements into dirty bass drops. “Sunrize in LA”, his most recent release on Street Ritual records on March 21st 2011, went straight to #1 on Addictech.com. The EP is an elegant downtempo lovestep journey moving swiftly between haunting samples, throbbing sub-bass and 8 bit funk.

Having been performing as an MC/Beatboxer since he was a teenager, Nico also puts those skills to work in his Youtube music production tutorials.

His recent tune “Rock That” is a sexy dubstep track that shows Nico’s versatility in the studio. His intelligent remixes of “Tell Me Your Care” by Roisin Murphy, “Baby Boy” by Beyonce and Sean Paul, and “Imagine” by John Lennon exemplify his ability to make a song his own and still maintain the original character of the piece.

Blunt Instrument is a glitch, midtempo producer duo from Australia. Their remixes of The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and Radiohead’s “Street Spirit” are quality glitchy, midtempo numbers that add new bass fueled dimensions to the originals. “Battle Toad” featured on An-ten-nae’s “Acid Crunk Vol. 3″ compilation solidified their place in the burgeoning midtempo breaks genre.

Their latest release on Simplify Recordings, bring back their signature midtempo funk in a two pack of mid-range burners that’ll have you kickin’ up dust in no time.

On the A, Blunt Instrument proves that when it comes to humor, they still prefer the playground variety with “Beans for Pauly”. As promised, the duo deliver flatulent funk over an off-kilter breakbeat. The party really gets into full swing when some prominent horn stabs take charge. A funky floor filler, these Beans heat up over a low flame with just enough spice to make things interesting.

It seems like these boys have been in the kitchen lately, and it’s apparent that their favorite method of cooking is over low heat, musically speaking. On b-side Simmer Gently, they “keep it real basic” with a 100 bpm funk schlumper. Inverted bass and low horn highlights produce a unique midtempo burner that never gets too hot.
