Riderz on the Storm

DJ/Producer extraordinaire Nick “Degree” Samalack, better known as Knight Riderz, has quickly become one of the most sought after live sets of an ever increasing list of electronic artists coming out of Canada. He’s performed across the US and Canada over the last year alongside artists such as Zeds Dead, Zedd, Freq Nasty and a slew of others, laying the foundation for a successful touring career. After first hitting the scene in 2010, Knight Riderz’ music has infiltrated all corners of the bass music, releasing buzzworthy albums with Muti Music, Starkey’s Seclusiasis, and Made In Glitch.

Knight Riderz will be making his highly anticipated return to the United States for 2 Colorado shows later this month – performing the first show on Thursday, July 26th at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, CO for Eliot Lipp’s Pretty Lights Music album release party along side Lipp, Ana Sia, Samples, SuperDre and Sir Charles among many others in a huge 2 room event. Samalack then performs at the River Beats Music Festival on Friday, July 27th at the beautiful State Bridge Amphitheater located along the Colorado River just outside Vail. If you’re not in CO, you can catch him along his US tour this Fall.

DJ Shiftee Drops Turntable Routine for Joker’s “Slaughter House”

Two-time DMC World Champ DJ Shiftee is one talented motherfucker. Apart from having a slew of DJ awards under his belt and being a globetrotting producer and purveyor of bass music, he’s also a Harvard Math Graduate, and an instructor at NYU as well as Dubspot NYC. Thankfully, he’s taken some time out of his busy schedule to whip up a turntable routine using Joker’s “Slaughter House”. Combining Native Instruments‘ Traktor and Maschine, Shiftee takes a page from MPC era beat smithing and fuses it with some tasteful turntablism. Not to mention, he’s sure to keep you laughing throughout the entire video.

If you get a chance to see DJ Shiftee live, make sure to hop on it – he’s very fun to watch as a master of keeping you dancing and interested throughout his entire set.

DJs: make sure to keep an eye on the Dubspot Blog where you can find lots more tutorials as well as Shiftee’s custom Maschine mapping templates.
