Mixtape 001: Your Dirty Habit

Your Dirty Habit is a duo based out of Charlotte, NC. These guys make beats that embody the philosophy of the BWOMP! and seemed like a natural fit to kick off our series of exclusive BWOMP BEATS! mixtapes that will hopefully be drilling your ear drums once a monthish for the rest of time.

What we have here is a 4 on the floor mix of massive proportions. Basslines influenced by drum and bass, synths tainted with the grime of dubstep, and kicks that slap you in the face make for a breakneck mix for house, DnB, and dubstep lovers alike. Call it “House & Bass.” Your Dirty Habit is currently launching a tour dedicated to the spread of House & Bass and the showcasing of original tracks such as “Goin’ Down,” ”To the Underground,” and “Odyssey” which will boast remixes by Mindelixir, Trill Bass, Axiom Crux and many more. Get your iPods ready…

Bend You

A month before the new album release, Sub Swara’s Triggers, due to drop Nov 9th, is already creating a big buzz in the scene. This is the second LP from the New York group, and seems to promise to show us a new side of Sub Swara, filled with more deep space soundscapes balanced perfectly atop bassbin crushing synthlines and polytempo rhythm sure to satisfy any beatfreak.

And the first pre-release single, aptly titled “Bend You”, does just that. Around the time you are starting to think you have a feel for this track, it shows you that the roller-coaster ride isn’t quite over yet! So snag it up below and keep your eyes peeled for the new album as it hits stores in mid November, and make sure to catch these guys in a city near you this fall (you can scope their tour dates on their website).

Prince of Bass

As a kid, I was a huge fan of the Deftones. Something about their music just struck a chord in me.. and it seems to be the same case with Lorin Ashton, better known as Bassnectar. Released in the middle of the night tonight, this new bootleg remix is sure to be one to bring back wild memories of the mosh pit at the end of a show. Riddled with twisted bass and the Deftones’ famous eerie vocals, it’s a track that takes you from 808s to crunchy guitar-topped bass and back.

Deftones – Prince (Bassnectar Remix)

Also in case you haven’t heard, the Bassnectar crew is going to turn the 1stBank Center into the 1stBASS Center! That’s right, don’t miss this show if you’re in Colorado in mid October! Lineup includes Dan Deacon, Brother Ali, Ott, Nosaj Thing, Emancipator, That 1 Guy and more!

Oh, and one more thing. NEW BASSNECTAR EP! The Wildstyle EP is due out October 19th with 6 brand new tracks and a heap of remixes. Should be dope as always!

BWOMP: Two

Year number two is in full effect. Just a little over a year ago, we dropped our first bomb on LA. Saturday is our official one year anniversary party. For our 1 year on 9/11, we wanted to do something special. This is not about sides, religions, or politics. It’s just bass therapy. We have a cavalcade of sick b2b and 2×4 sets for you coming from all corners of LA. If you’re anywhere in So Cal, make sure you come out and celebrate 1 year of bass with the BWOMP! crew. We’re inviting some heavy hitting LA talent to help us ring it in LA proper. Included are exclusives from two of the talent.

====================================================================

Dillon Francis has been making waves as a top producer/DJs in LA. Constantly straddling the line between electro and dubstep, this guy isn’t confined by cookie cutter bangers. His track “Take Me High” has been shooting up the charts and is currently at #16 on Beatport. His hit “Westside!” has been rinsed by the likes of Major Lazer and Will.I.Am, destroying huge crowds on many occassions. Signed to Plant Music last year, Dillon’s dirty, funky electro-step tracks have been getting press from grips of notable music blogs. You want to check this cat out. Do not sleep.

Drop the Lime – Sex Sax (Dillon Francis Choose Your Own Adventure Remix)

Nightcore – I Walk Alone (Dillon Francis Remix) (BWOMP BEATS! Exclusive)

====================================================================

A dubstep producer/DJ trio out of Los Angeles, our good friends The Dumbsteppaz are known for their hard-hitting style of west coast dubstep. They always work their dancefloors into a frenzy, and their LA fans love them for it. In addition to being great talents, they are the nicest and most humble dudes you’ll meet. Their Turnt Up EP is climbing Beatport’s dubstep charts quickly, currently at #23. They first came out and supported us for our first monthly and killed it. It’s our pleasure to bring the Dumbsteppaz back for our one year.

Music for Funerals and Banks

Funerals and Banks? Doesn’t sound very appealing.. but don’t let the name fool you! Mindelixir’s new concept compilation remix album (recompilalbum?), obscurely titled Music for Funerals and Banks, deals the freshness through heavy doses of bass. As what might be described as “Nu Bass”, this compilation digs deep with some of North America’s hottest up and coming talent. The sheer size of it can only be described as “massive”, with originals from names such as Mindelixir, Axiom Crux, Charlie P, and Ghetto Sexuual, and remixes from the likes of Mochipet, Leo123 (half of Dark Party with Eliot Lipp), Splatinum, and quite a few others.

From funky to downright grimey, this compilation takes us on a journey that winds through the towering halls of dubstep past, littered with video game sounds and resonating wobbles. Twenty-one tracks ensure that there’s something for everyone, from spankin’ bangers to groovin’ “headphones” tracks. Mindelixir shot us over a couple exclusives just for you Bwompers, so snag them and make sure to go grab the whole compilation on Beatport.
