And The Bass Was Filled

It’s about a full week after we Filled In The Bass.

Sorry for the delay… we are all still recovering from the madness that was the first BWOMP! party in history in Los Angeles and we all agree that it couldn’t have gone better thanks to all of you who came out! A lot of people put in a lot of work to make this happen and there’s no feeling like the feeling we got by seeing all your smiling bass-faces and palms in the air that night. Many of you were close friends, some of you were acquaintances, and a few of you were strangers, but what’s most important is all of you were supporters in the beginning of what will be a continuing tradition of funk, bass, and BWOMP! This is our official THANK YOU! <3

We appreciate all the positive feedback and the continuing support. It goes without saying that we are already cooking something up for the near future, so stay tuned! In the mean time, check out our facebook group if you like:

Don’t stop, BWOMP!!!

Bonus:

KidLogic is one of the integral hard-working members of the BWOMP! fam that made Fill In The Bass happen. Here are two old remixes by the homie… showin you what L.A. is. Wreckognize.

Souls of Mischief – 93 Till Infinity (KidLogic Remix)

140 BPM

Luniz – I Got 5 On It (KidLogic 5 Step Remix)

70 BPM

BANG!!!

The Stanton Warriors are currently in the studio hard at work on their as-yet-untitled new album and are gaining renewed respect for their remix of Rye Rye’s ‘Bang’ (featuring M.I.A.).

Dominic B (one half of the Warriors) said, “It’s just a remix but it’s been going off.  This mix is a taste of what we’re up to. We’ve been working with a lot of US hipster hop rappers and singers on the new album.  For us this remix is straight up club thumping music”.

Stanton Warriors laid down a fresh new sound with the seminal ‘Stanton Sessions’ that was instantly signed to XL Recordings. The mix saw off competition from Fat Boy Slim and Deep Dish to win Best Album at the Dance Star Awards, and again at the Muzik Mag Awards where they beat Dave Clarke and Danny Tenaglia, whilst the mix recently featured in Mixmags top 50 best compilations ever industry poll. Skint Records brought together Dom and Mark’s killer versions of Gorillaz’ ‘Feel Good Inc’, Alter Ego’s legendary ‘Rocker’ and Azzido Da Bass’s ‘Dooms Night’ amongst a great deal more on ‘Remixes’. The compilation perfectly showcased the Stantons sound and made it clear why DJ Mag included them in their recent list of the ‘50 Best Remixers Of All Time’”

Here’s a bonus mix by MattB done for SubFM presented by MadeInGlitch / Bass Science:

Matt.B will be doing a gig in Greece (Aurora Festival) this weekend, then back to Japan where he will play at Goth Trad’s Back To Chill Anniversary party at Club ASIA (Tokyo) on the 5th of September, then hitting HK early October (9 and 10 of OCT, more infos TBA). Sick crunky crack music on the glitch tip.

Melodic Brolic

Back in my young raver days, I used to love melodic trance and I’m not ashamed to admit it… okay maybe just a little. But all jokes and cheese aside, there was always something uplifting and intoxicating about melodic synths, emotional piano compositions, and soulful female vocals over an energetic 4/4 electronic kick drum that kept me on the dancefloor for hours (no drugs I promise)! A good beat can move the body, but a good melody can shake the soul. It’s high time to put the peace, love, unity, and respect back into PLUR.

In a time where the appetite for hard and filthy is king, here are some of my favorite soulful melodic dubstep tracks to balance your diet with because the only thing better than a bass-face is a smiling bass-face. :).

La Roux – In For The Kill (Skream’s Let’s Get Ravey Remix)

BWOMP: One

Different shelf. New book. First chapter: FILL IN THE BASS!

Today is a week before a very special date… for the first time ever, L.A. OFFICIALLY gets BWOMP’ed! What does that mean? I have no idea! But if you go to FILL IN THE BASS on the 21st of August, you’ll know. It’s about time to show these motherfuckers that it’s true and not just a hobby, which… it is, but I digress.

We have been working very VERY hard on this! Our “committee” has gone from six people huddled over drinks at the Medusa Lounge to almost triple in size of bass maniacs investing not just their hard earned cash (and a little easy money), but their time and effort to make this party possible. If you’re in the area on 8/21 come get loose with us, support your underground, and be part of the BWOMP massif!

It will be all night… it will be renegade… and it will BWOMP!

An-Ten-Nae will be joining us to throw down for his only West Coast appearance before Burning Man! Catch some of his tracks here. You can also cop his new Acid Crunk EP 5 which has been topping all the charts over at Addictech.
